Back-to-School Bash: A Day of Joy, Support, and Community

The 2025 Back-to-School Bash, hosted by Bronx Borough President Vanessa L. Gibson at the New South Bronx Center, brought families together for a joyful day of support and celebration. Children received free school supplies, families accessed community resources, and everyone enjoyed music and entertainment — helping Bronx students start the new school year with confidence and excitement.

On August 29th, 2025, the Office of the Bronx Borough President Vanessa L. Gibson brought the community together for a day filled with joy, resources, and support at the Back-to-School Bash. Held at the New South Bronx Center, 991 Longwood Ave, the event helped families gear up for the new school year while celebrating the spirit of community.

A Day Filled With Smiles and Support

  • Free Bookbags & Giveaways – Children received essential school supplies to start the school year ready and confident (while supplies lasted).
  • Music & Entertainment – The lively atmosphere was filled with fun performances and cheerful energy that had everyone smiling
  • Service Providers & Resources – Families connected with valuable community services, ensuring support extended beyond the classroom.

The Police Athletic League, Inc. partnered in this effort, reinforcing their longstanding commitment to uplifting Bronx youth and families.

Why It Mattered

For many families, preparing for a new school year can be challenging, with the cost of supplies adding up quickly. This event not only eased that burden but also reminded children that their community believes in their potential and success.

The Back-to-School Bash was more than just a giveaway — it was a celebration of love, care, and the collective investment in Bronx children’s futures.

A Heartfelt Thank You

We’re grateful to everyone who helped make this event a success — from the volunteers and service providers to the families who joined us. Together, we sent Bronx students back to school with confidence, joy, and the tools they need to shine.
