The Bronx came alive on Saturday, September 13, 2025, as the African Advisory Council (AAC), in partnership with the Office of the Bronx Borough President Vanessa L. Gibson, hosted the much-anticipated African Heritage Festival at 1700 Crotona Park (Claremont Parkway & Crotona Ave).
From 10 AM to 5 PM, the vibrant heart of Crotona Park was filled with music, dance, art, food, and community as Bronx residents and visitors came together to celebrate the rich and diverse cultures of Africa. The festival was more than an event — it was a joyful homecoming for many and an opportunity for the broader community to honor African heritage, contributions, and traditions.
A Day of Culture, Community, and Celebration
The festival highlighted the incredible diversity of the African continent, featuring flags and cultural representations from countries such as Ghana, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Senegal, South Africa, and many more. Guests enjoyed:
The African Heritage Festival is a proud initiative of the African Advisory Council of the Bronx, created to celebrate the cultural wealth and growing influence of African communities in the borough. The event was supported by numerous partners and sponsors, including VNS Health, Affinity by Molina Healthcare, The Bronx Tourism Council, Spreading Love Foundation, and many other community organizations.
With the support of Bronx Borough President Vanessa L. Gibson, the festival continues to be a platform for unity, education, and cultural pride — empowering African immigrants and African-Americans to share their stories and traditions with the wider community.
The African Heritage Festival is more than a cultural showcase — it’s a space where identity, pride, and belonging are nurtured. For many, it’s a chance to reconnect with their roots and for others, an opportunity to learn about Africa’s rich legacy and global impact. It also strengthens bonds between African communities and their neighbors, fostering understanding and collaboration.
Year after year, the African Heritage Festival grows stronger, bringing more people together in celebration of diversity and shared humanity. As the Bronx continues to flourish as one of the most culturally rich boroughs of New York City, events like these remind us that our differences are our strength and that cultural heritage should be celebrated and preserved.
If you missed the 2025 edition, keep an eye out for next year’s festival — it’s an experience you won’t want to miss!
